The History of the Union Jack

The flag of Great Britain has a huge historical significance and symbolizes the union of the three countries: England, Scotland and Ireland.

The Union Jack consists of three crosses:

Red cross on a white background is the cross of St. George. It is a symbol of England.

White cross on a blue background is the cross of St. Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland.

After Ireland was conquered in 1801, the red cross of Saint Patrick appeared on the flag

The result is a very beautiful flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
