I live in Igrim. It is situated in the western part of Siberia. It is small but rather nice place to live in. Firstly, it is surrounded by vast forests and stands on the bank of the large river. So you can breathe fresh air which is not spoiled by factories and cars. Secondly, to the North of the town there are the Urals. The highest mountains are covered with snow all the year round. It is a wonderful sight! Unfortunately, our town is far from a railroad.

Mansi and khanty are the natives. But there are also large groups of other nationalities such as Russians, Ukraines, Tatars and so on. The natives have their own customs and holidays .For example, the beginning of the year they mark in March, when the crows come back. They also speak their own language and sometimes wear national clothes. But the young generation doesn’t use their language often. I think, they will lose their roots soon.

As for me, I like this place because living here has some advantages. First, I am fond of fishing. Hunting is also a popular hobby for most of men here. In summer we gather mushrooms and berries while hiking. There are disadvantages too. Twice a year the town is separated from the other territory by water. Also there is not much to do here for the youth. Unemployment is high too. But anyway, east or west home is best. I will always remember my hometown.
