The United Kingdom
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is an English – speaking country. The capital of the country is London. Соединенное Королевство Великобритании и Северной Ирландии англо – язычная страна. Столицей страны является Лондон.

There is the House of Parliament with Big Ben in London. Big Ben is the biggest clock bell in Britain. It weighs 13.5 tons. В Лондоне есть Здание Парламента и Биг Бен. Биг Бен – самые большие часы с колоколом в Британии. Они весят 13.5 тонн.

Westminster Abbey
Westminster Abbey. It was founded in 1050 and it is situated in the centre of London now. Many great Englishmen were buried in the Abbey: Newton, Darwin and others. Вестминстерское Аббатство. The British Museum
The British Museum is a very interesting place in London. It was founded in 1753. The library of this museum has a lot of books. Британский Музей очень интересное место в Лондоне. Он был основан в 1753 году. В библиотеке музея находится много книг.

London Underground
London is connected with the London Underground. It is the oldest one in the world. The first line was opened in 1870. It was like a tube, that’s why it was called the Tube. English people call the old lines the Tube, the new lines – the Underground. One can see the world “Underground” across a large circle. It shows you where the stations are. Double-decker
Visitors of London often prefer to travel by bus because they can see a lot of interesting places from the top of a double – decker. Посетители Лондона предпочитают путешествовать на автобусе, потому что с высоты двухэтажного автобуса можно увидеть много интересных мест.

The Tower of London
The Tower of London is a very old building. It is nine hundred years old. The Tower of London stands on the Thames. It is interesting to know that the Tower of London was a prison in early days of history of England. Лондонский Тауэр очень старое здание. Ему девятьсот лет. Лондонский Тауэр стоит на Темзе. Интересно отменить, что раньше Лондонский Тауэр был тюрьмой.

Black ravens lived near this prison. Now the Tower of London is a museum. The black ravens live in the gardens of the Tower. Черные вороны жили возле тюрьмы. Теперь Лондонский Тауэр является музеем. Черные вороны живут в садах Тауэра.

English people like animals
You can see a man who looks after the ravens. English people like animals. British families have got pets at home. Usually they have got dogs, cats, and birds. Вы можете видеть человека, ухаживающего за воронами. Англичане любят животных. В Британских семьях есть домашние животные. Обычно это собаки, коты и птицы.
