In recent years, Russia has developed a clear idea of Tatarstan as a region where sports are part of everyday life. Kazan has become the sports capital!
The 2013 Universiade was the impetus for the development of the sports infrastructure of the capital of Tatarstan. It was the first world-class competition for Kazan. The city has launched a large-scale construction project that is not inferior in size to the preparation for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. Literally before the eyes of the residents, the new stadium "Kazan" has grownArena", the Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace and the Water Sports Palace, where swimming, diving, synchronized swimming and water polo competitions were held. The success of the Universiade allowed Kazan to host even more large-scale events.
However, the city passed the most important test in 2017, taking on "KazanArena" matches of the Confederation Cup. It was on the Kazan lawn that the Portuguese national team led by Cristiano Ronaldo scored goals, as well as the great German national team, which won this tournament. FIFA noted the brilliant preparation after the Confederation Cup and was satisfied with the competitions.
In addition to international success, Kazan boasts home clubs from a variety of sports: the football club "Rubin", the eternal favorite of the Kontinental hockey League "Ak Bars" and, of course, the volleyball clubs "Zenit“. UNIVERSIADE VILLAGE
Three years before the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013, the Universiade Village was built and used as a student campus in Kazan. It is also used as a federal training center for national teams in summer playing sports. To date, there are no similar complexes in Russia, and its creation has made it possible to form a modern base for the development of student sports in general and the training of athletes of Russian national teams.
AKBARS ARENA STADIUM
Since 2013, one of Russia's largest new multifunctional stadium "Kazan Arena" with a capacity of 45,000 spectators has been operating, which became the main arena of the XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013. Due to modernization and transformation, it was used as the main arena for the competitions of the World Swimming and Aquatics Championships. The stadium hosted matches of the 2017 Confederations Football Cup. In 2018, the stadium took part in the FIFA World Cup.

BOXING AND TABLE TENNIS CENTER
The facility is at the disposal of the Table Tennis Federation of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Boxing Federation of Kazan and has become a training base for children's sports and general education schools. During the Universiade, boxing and table tennis competitions were held here. Capacity 2000 people.
GYMNASTICS CENTER
Today this cent is used as a training base for the junior national team of Russia. The center is also a training base of the Volga State Academy of Physical Education. During the Universiade there was the main arena of sports and rhythmic gymnastics. The capacity of the center is 2000 people.

VOLLEYBALL CENTER "SAINTPETERSBURG«
At the moment, the facility is a training base and home arena for the Dynamo and Zenit volleyball teams. Also the Volleyball Center "SaintPetersburg" is a training base and a sports arena for the providence of the games of the Higher School of Sports Excellence of the Youth Sports School and competitions. During the Universiade, exciting games between teams from different countries took place here. The total capacity is 4,600 people.
BASKET HALL
Baskethall is an indoor multifunctional sports arena in the city of Kazan, the first basketball palace in Russia. It is the home arena for the basketball club "UNICS" (Super League A), one of the most important objects of the Universiade 2013 in Kazan. After the 2013 Universiade Games, the facility serves as a training base for the Novo Youth Sports SchoolSavinovsky district and Youth school "Labor reserves" of Kazan. The capacity of the audience is 7000 people in the large hall and 500 people in the small one.

CENTRAL STADIUM
The home stadium of the football club "Rubin", located in Kazan near the Millennium Square. An indoor football and athletics arena is located in the complex with the stadium. The Central stadium is used for football matches of the Russian championships among the teams of the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, as well as for athletics competitions of various scales. The athletics tournament of the Summer Universiade 2013 was held at the Central Stadium. Training sessions of the Youth sports School "Ak Bure" in athletics, Youth Sports School No. 1 in gymnastics, and the "Rubin" sports School are organized at the stadium and the arena.
SPORTS PALACE
There is also a Sports Palace in the city, with a capacity of 3,845 spectators, opened in 1966.

KAZAN HIPPODROME
Kazan Hippodrome (Kazan International Equestrian Complex) is the largest in Russia and one of the largest racetracks in Europe. Allows you to conduct both horse racing and running. The total area of the complex is 89.4 hectares. The complex consists of six zones: sports demonstration, training, economic, park, entertainment and gaming, as well as a racetrack field.
TATNEFTIARENA STADIUM
The main ice stadium in Kazan is TatneftArena", with a capacity of 10,000 spectators, opened in 2005. The average attendance of the arena in the 2010-2011 season was 8081 spectators. The youth teams of Ak Bars are Bars and Irbis.
